My Saturday on the Halifax Waterfront

Like many people, I often don’t take the time to explore my own city. I take advantage of the fact that I live in such a beautiful city, with such a rich history.

Today my sister and I started at the new Halifax Seaport Farmer’s Market in the morning, and then wandered around the boardwalk and waterfront streets in the afternoon. It was a beautiful, hot summer day and perfect for picture taking! Enjoy these few shots of my beautiful city of Halifax:

Bike Rental Anyone?

Before relocating to it’s current location, the ‘main’ market use to be located in the old Alexander Keith’s Brewery (some vendors still remain):

After the market we headed to The Old Traingle, one of Halifax’s best Irish pubs and located in one of the oldest parts of the city.

Across from The Triangle is one of my favorite old buildings where the restaurant McKelvie’s now sits. I’d love to go in, but I hate seafood. I know, bad, considering I grew up on the coast where I could literally catch every meal if I wanted.

After lunch we walked towards Halifax’s Historic Properties, first passing Citadel Hill:

The ferry back to Dartmouth gives the best views of Halifax:

It was a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Halifax!

  2. Darn….I’m kicking myself for not going to Halifax this summer to visit family! I could have run into you at the harbour! LOL!

Next summer I hope to go……I love it there oh so much!

  3. Ohhhh this makes me miss Halifax so SO much. Visiting my sister when she lived there was the highlight of my travels every year; there was always something to do and wandering around old downtown=awesomeness. Great pictures, sounds like you had an amazing time!
