This past weekend we escaped to hubby’s family cottage for some good ‘ol Canada Day celebrations-complete with (questionably legal) fireworks and as always, it was a blast (pun intended). We’re blessed to live in such a beautiful province and have such a great place for the family to gather, here are a few pictures for your enjoyment:

Pictures from our little exploration around the cottage grounds and looking for a bog where we could catch venus fly traps (which we never did find):

We finished the weekend meals with a true Canadian cake hubby and I made…although ran out of decoration strawberries mid-way, still tasted yummers!
Making a Canadian flag is slightly harder than the American me thinks. Although neither one of us can complain, we could have to attempt to decorate the Mexican flag. Brutal.
We had a great time, ate too much, got too much sun, ate some more, lazed, read a great book and enjoyed some good old fashion family time. It was perfect.
